The Church and Adoption: Living the Call

Together we can embody God’s love for birth mothers, adoptees, and adoptive families.

We envision the Church rising to embrace adoption as part of its mission, living out James 1:27 in tangible and powerful ways:

See adoption as a Gospel calling:

Adoption is more than a solution; it reflects our own story of being adopted into God’s family through Christ. When churches embrace this truth, adoption is no longer “someone else’s calling” but part of the Gospel lived out.

Support Prospective Adoptive Families:

Adoption is a calling, but the costs can feel overwhelming. Through designated giving, the Church can help ease the financial burden for Christian couples faithfully stepping forward to welcome a child into their home. When gifts are given through Birth Choice, they are tax-deductible, allowing donors to invest both spiritually and wisely in God’s Kingdom work. Contributions help cover placement fees and related expenses, making adoption possible for families God has called. In addition, churches can support families through prayer, encouragement, meals, childcare, and ongoing discipleship, ensuring that no adoptive family walks this journey alone.

Support Expectant and Birth Mothers:

Many birth mothers walk through deep grief, trauma, and loss. The Church has the opportunity to surround them with the love and compassion of Christ. Contributions provide access to Christ-centered counseling that remind women they are valued and that healing and hope are possible.

Become a prayer partner:

When you partner with us as a prayer partner you will play a powerful part in the life of the expectant mother, the birth parent, the preborn baby, the adoptee, the prospective parents, cradle care families, and adoptive families.

Celebrating adoption as life-affirming and redemptive:

Adoption affirms the dignity of life for children and birth mothers alike. It provides a courageous alternative to abortion and testifies that God is in the business of redemption, healing, and writing new stories of hope.

Strengthen the Ministry of adoption within the Church:

When believers give and serve, they are investing in prayer, training, education, and lifelong support for adoptees, adoptive families, and birth parents. This partnership equips the Body of Christ to walk faithfully with those touched by adoption for years to come.

Advocate for life beyond birth:

To be truly pro-life means caring for life at every stage. Advocacy cannot stop at the womb; it must extend to children, birth mothers, and adoptive families. When the Church takes responsibility to love, provide, and walk with the vulnerable, rather than leaving this sacred calling to the state, we dismantle one of the strongest arguments of the pro-choice movement.

Future ministry opportunities:

As our director undergoes TBRI practitioner training, we will be able to offer trauma informed training for churches and the community. We also plan to equip churches with training and resources to establish their own branches of adoption ministry. This will include tools for prayer support, care teams for adoptive families, and ways to extend ongoing love to birth mothers. Our vision is that no adoption story unfolds in isolation, but rather within the embrace of the local church.

Adoption Month – November

Every November, we partner with churches across our community to celebrate National Adoption Awareness Month, a time set apart to honor the courageous stories of birth mothers, the faithful perseverance of adoptive families, and the beautiful testimony of adoptees.

This month provides a unique opportunity for the Body of Christ to come together in unity, lifting adoption high as both a life-affirming choice and a reflection of the Gospel itself.

Together, we:

  • Educate congregations on the biblical heart of adoption, affirming God’s call to care for the vulnerable and to live out James 1:27.
  • Share testimonies from birth mothers, adoptees, and adoptive families that reveal God’s faithfulness, redemption, and healing.
  • Highlight adoption as the ultimate picture of our spiritual reality, that through Christ we are chosen, loved, and adopted into God’s family.
  • Equip the Church with practical ways to support the adoption triad, through prayer, financial support, discipleship, and ongoing encouragement.

Adoption Month is more than an event;  it is a movement of the Church to proclaim hope, healing, and. belonging. When congregations set aside time in November to focus on adoption, they are declaring to the world that every child has value, every birth mother has dignity, and every story can be redeemed by the Author of life.

“Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” – James 1:27

Our vision is that the Church would rise together, not only to advocate for life in the womb, but also to embrace the lifelong journey of adoption, showing the world the redeeming love of Christ in action.
